Dear Rye Brook Residents:
Here is the status of where we stand regarding the ongoing power outages:
- As of this afternoon, there are 67 homes in Rye Brook with no power.
- Of those 67 homes without power, 44 of them are supposed to be repaired by 11:00 PM tonight. These are homes who have been without power since last Friday.
On the Con Ed conference call this morning, although they said that they are prioritizing homes which have been out since last week, they would not commit to restoring power to those 44 homes today, although they did “promise” to restore these homes tomorrow. My personal feeling is although they “promised” to get those homes restored tomorrow, I don’t have a tremendous amount of confidence in their promises.
I am continuing to press them and demand that they send crews. This afternoon, one Con Ed truck showed up and is currently hooking up individual homes whose wire was cut/damaged connecting the home to the street main power lines. While that is a positive step, part of their tomorrow “promise” is for their “bucket trucks” which can hook up the main service lines which are causing wider outages on Old Oak/Elm Hill, and Charles Lane.
I have also engaged Assemblyman Steve Otis, and Congresswoman Nita Lowey. They are also pressing Con Edison on behalf of Rye Brook.
I’m sorry to have to deliver this news, but I’m trying to be transparent as possible and provide you with accurate information. Please know that we are engaging Con Ed from every direction possible. I will update you as soon as there is additional information to share.
