COVID-19 Message from Mayor Paul Rosenberg

Posted on August 3, 2021

Dear Rye Brook Residents:

It’s been quite some time since I’ve written to you regarding the pandemic.  Until recently, Rye Brook has been fortunate in that we haven’t seen any measurable spike in Covid-19 cases in the Village.  Unfortunately, that streak of good luck has come to an end.

Back in June, we generally had only 1 active Covid-19 case on any given day.  As of today, there are 29 active Covid-19 cases in Rye Brook.  In that short period of time, the introduction of the Covid-19 Delta variant has caused our infection rate to steadily increase.

As we head into the home stretch of summer with only weeks before our children will be returning to school and college, now more than ever it is extremely vital that all of us who qualify for the Covid-19 shot get vaccinated.  As I’m sure you’ve heard, mass vaccination is the best way for our nation to rid ourselves of this pandemic.

Unfortunately, the response to this pandemic has become horribly politicized.  But no matter what your stance is, the facts demonstrate that nearly all COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths in the U.S. are affecting people who weren’t vaccinated, a staggering demonstration of how effective the shots have been.  And CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said that the vaccine is so effective that “nearly every death, especially among adults, due to COVID-19, is, at this point, entirely preventable.”

If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, I’M URGING YOU to please think of the health of yourselves, your family, and your community, and get vaccinated!!!
