Message from Mayor Paul Rosenberg

Good evening Rye Brook Residents,

I wanted to take an opportunity to clarify for you some information that I emailed you last Friday regarding the re-opening of our parks and athletic facilities.

Although we are now re-opening our fields, playgrounds, and as of next week our basketball courts, please remember that as per the Governor’s executive order, there can be no group gatherings of people in the parks for any reason whatsoever. I have heard a few rumors about some residents wanting to hold either a “Moving Up” ceremony or some other kind of celebration in Pine Ridge Park, and I would urge those involved to please reconsider. Please do not put us in the position of having to have to break up such an event.

The good news is that as soon as Westchester enters Phase 3 of reopening (scheduled for next Tuesday, June 23), New York State will allow gatherings of up to 25 people, relaxing the current limit of 10 people.

Finally, please remember that it is still especially important to wear a mask if you are going to come within 6 feet of a person who does not live in your household. The medical community has asked me to remind you that the use of face coverings remains vital and how we act now will impact any possible spike in cases in the fall. If you need a mask, Rye Brook resident Tamara Winton has graciously offered to supply you one for free. Tamara can be reached at tamarawinton@yahoo.com .

Thank you and please feel free to email me at mayor@ryebrook.org .
