COVID UPDATE & VACCINES FOR PEOPLE OVER AGE 65:
Beginning this week Westchester Community College will be used as an additional site to help vaccinate people over 65 years old. Seniors who need assistance setting up appointments can try to call (914) 813-6300. As a reminder, several pharmacies have also received vaccine doses to use for people over 65 years old, and the NYS vaccine distribution sites are available to anyone eligible to receive vaccines. There have been some additional announcements including:
-Hotel workers are now eligible to be vaccinated.
-Food pantry workers are now eligible to be vaccinated.
-Movie theaters can re-open at 25% starting on 3/5 (50 person limit per theater).
-Indoor amusement places can re-open at 25% starting on 3/26.
-Outdoor amusement parks can re-open at 33% starting on 4/9.
Additional guidance will be coming out from New York State regarding the reopening of weddings and other outdoor events beginning 3/15. Please continue to be vigilant in making smart choices, wear a mask, wash our hands, and social distance. Together we can beat COVID-19.
REMINDER: The Rye Brook ‘COVID Vaccine Angels’ are here to help our Seniors!
The Rye Brook Senior Center has been working with dedicated community volunteers to assist our eligible seniors in trying to register for a COVID vaccine appointment. So far, over 40 volunteers have made over 50 appointments for our seniors. Our Angels call interested seniors, identify themselves, and go through a series of questions. Then our Angels get to work searching for appointments. If an appointment is made, we will call the senior back with everything they need for their appointment. Please call the Rye Brook Senior Center at (914) 939-7904 if you would like assistance from our COVID Vaccine Angels to try to schedule an appointment.
If you are a homebound and cannot physically get to a vaccination site, please also call the Rye Brook Senior Center at (914) 939-7904 to get added to our Homebound Senior List. We will follow back up with you if options become available for at-home senior vaccinations.
